VIA Rail’s trains running as usual

Montréal, June 4th, 2013– VIA Rail Canada and the Canadian Auto Workers (CAW) have been in negotiations since the fall of 2012. VIA Rail is determined to reach new collective agreements with its employees represented by CAW before the legal work stoppage date of June 14th 12:01 a.m., Eastern Standard Time.

VIA Rail remains optimistic that an agreement will be reached between the parties. Parties have been in conciliation since April. They are currently in mediation.

VIA Rail will continue to be fully functional and provide the same level of service, on-time departures and arrivals, on-board quality service and safety to its passengers, employees and the public as it normally does.

During these negotiations, VIA Rail will keep passengers and the public informed of any development through its Web site at viarail.ca, on Facebook orTwitter @VIA_rail.
