VIA Rail service disrupted on Toronto-Montréal and Toronto-Ottawa routes

MONTREAL, July 10, 2014 – An incident involving a CN freight train is affecting the VIA Rail passenger trains operating on the Toronto-Montréal and Toronto-Ottawa routes, in both directions. VIA Rail will be transporting the affected passengers to their destinations by motorcoach. Trains between Montréal and Ottawa will continue to operate according to the normal schedule.

VIA Rail is making every effort to ensure that their passengers reach their destination as safely and as comfortably as possible. Delays are expected through to the end of the day.  Service recovery measures such as travel credits will be offered to affected passengers and extra charges paid for Business Class tickets will be reimbursed to affected passengers.

VIA Rail thanks its customers for their patience and understanding. Affected passengers wishing to cancel or modify their reservations may do so, without charge, regardless of the category of fare paid.
