VIA RAIL’S PRESIDENT AND CEO IS IN WINNIPEG TO OFFER INSIGHTS INTO THE CORPORATION’S TRANSFORMATION

WINNIPEG, September 27, 2024 – VIA Rail Canada’s (VIA Rail) President and Chief Executive Officer, Mario Péloquin, was in Winnipeg today to address the Manitoba Chambers of Commerce and meet with key stakeholders and media.

During this event, M. Péloquin highlighted the important journey VIA Rail is undertaking as part of its new strategic plan which includes the replacement of all its trains from coast to coast over the coming years.

This new fleet, for which the procurement process is slated to begin very soon, will offer Canadians and tourists modern trains meeting the highest standards of accessibility to discover Canada. It will also allow VIA Rail to continue to provide essential connections for many remote and Indigenous communities.

« 2024 is a turning point for VIA Rail. Earlier this year, we launched our new five-year strategic plan and vision and received funding confirmation from the federal government for the replacement of our pan-Canadian fleet. With these elements, we are truly laying the foundations to be at the heart of Canada’s passenger journey,” said Mario Péloquin.

As part of this transformation, VIA Rail seeks to become a best-in-class operator in North America and a leader in integrated mobility.
